Choose What’s Hard

To conclude this series exploring quotes that make up the foundational ethos of the mission, I want to highlight two, bringing the last two journal entries in this series into one.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. reminded us that we should have a dream—especially one where justice is not only retributive, or something that happens as we punish crimes, but also something that’s structural and relational.

And as I’ve noted here before, President Kennedy challenged us to go to the moon by the end of the decade because it was a venture that was hard, that would get the best effort out of ourselves.

I think it’s critical that we give a defining shape to the challenges we hope to take on and solve.

Liberatus was always meant to be a container for the creative effort it will take to make our country more just and free. It was an adventure, and I think it’s still only beginning.
